A Village
Without a Local.
When the bar at the village hotel closed in 2012, Rannoch lost more than somewhere to buy a drink. It lost the room you could walk into on your own and know there'd be someone there to talk to.
That gap didn't close on its own. By 2016 it was written down in black and white — a social centre for the community, named as a priority in the Community Action Plan.

In 2016 people from the community came together and formed the Rannoch & Tummel Community Fund Group. Working with local people, they set out the things that had to change if Rannoch was going to sustain itself for the long term.
Top of that list was a community hub with a heart. The Fund Group became what is now Rannoch Community Trust, and The CornerStone is that first priority, built.

The Community.
In 2020 the Trust, acting on behalf of the community, set about buying the former Rannoch Outdoor Centre from Perth & Kinross Council through the Scottish Government's Community Asset Transfer scheme.
Fundraising began in earnest and work started on the building in 2021. Then came the setbacks — a new roof, Covid, a colony of bats, and everything else that comes with bringing an old building back to life. In June 2025, The CornerStone opened its doors.

The CornerStone was the first priority, not the last one. Rannoch Community Trust continues to develop initiatives aimed at securing the area's future — Heartland Cares, a social care enterprise set up to meet the care needs of the community, and twelve affordable homes in the village to address a chronic housing shortage.
